Wheelock Summer Bridge Program 2017
August 27 - September 1Free
Many first-year college students aren’t fully prepared for the demands of college life because the structure of high school is so different than the structure of college. In college, there’s nobody standing over you, making sure you are getting your reading done, writing your papers, working on group projects, getting to field placement on time, or even managing your social life.
Bridge helps you with this transition. It gives you a framework that will assist you with juggling your academics and extra-curricular activities while you are acclimating yourself to Wheelock’s community and campus. It’s an opportunity for you to work with the staff in the Office of Academic Assistance to make sure you are staying on top of your workload, and help you build the requisite skills necessary to achieve your academic and personal goals.
Topics such as time management, critical reading and writing, professional communication, study skills, and college-level independence are addressed through an intensive two-week summer session, a fall-semester programming that includes workshops and one-on-one meetings with a staff member from Academic Assistance.
