There is a full day of celebratory events planned for the Presidential Inauguration of Dr. David J. Chard on April 21, 2017. As reflected in the various activities, the theme of the Inauguration is derived from Wheelock Founder Lucy Wheelock’s quotation, “The one thing that makes life worth living is to SERVE A CAUSE.”
We expect an inspirational and joyful day, and hope that you will join us!
- The day begins with a morning symposium, titled Service as an Act of Social Justice, three consecutive presentations that each will feature a short keynote address and the work of Wheelock faculty, alumni, and students. Although classes are not cancelled, we hope that staff and faculty will attend, and support the participation of students as well.
- After the All-Community Celebratory Lunch, we will host a Salute to Community Service, recognizing all the activities of the preceding week/month’s World Service events and a tribute to global and local ongoing community service.
- The formal Inaugural Ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. in the Wheelock Family Theatre. Welcoming remarks will be offered by distinguished guests and members of our Wheelock community, interspersed with performances and of course, the induction of Dr. Chard as the 14th President of Wheelock College.
- Finally, the day concludes with the opening night performance of Charlotte’s Web in the WFT.
