Boston Brain Tumor Walk

Almost 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor. This year alone,another 69,000 people are expected to receive that same diagnosis. The Boston Brain Tumor Walk is an inspiring, family-friendly 5k that offers a chance to honor and remember loved ones, connect with others, and educate the local community. Volunteerism has been a tradition since MABVI’s earliest days, when the organization was founded by volunteers at the Women’s Educational and Industrial Union. MABVI’s first Advisory Boards featured such illustrious volunteers as Helen Keller, Julia Ward Howe, and Edward Everett Hale. The first paid staff member wasn’t hired until 1948. In 1959, a formal volunteer matching program was established, matching 28 sighted volunteers with 34 blind individuals.
